Intercontinental, Singapore

It’s that time again, my 5th trip to Singapore in as many years and I decided it was time to stay in Bugis, famous for its modern shopping malls, food and roadside vendors. For this trip I decided I would try out the 5 star Intercontinental Singapore which is directly above the Bugis Junction MRT and minutes away from Marina Bay and the Central Business District.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love 5 star hotels but I generally don’t stay in the big brand chain hotels in Singapore because they can start to look the same. The Intercontinental Singapore doesn’t really fit into that category. It is a heritage hotel, with the staff going above and beyond to make sure you feel right at home and not just a number to fill their rooms like some of the other big brands.

Arriving at the hotel after a 25 minute taxi ride from Changi Airport, we were greeted by the concierge who took our bags and then walked us to the checkin desk where a friendly smile greeted us. Asked how our flight was, also if we needed anything to make our stay more enjoyable, we were then shown to our rooms for our 4 night stay in one of my favourite cities.

Having rooms in the Heritage Wing, the large windows look out to Bugis Junction shopfront where by mid morning is a sea of people. The room itself was huge with an extra comfortable king size bed, sitting area, desk and walking hallway. Apart from the amazing sized rooms, the hotel itself offers much more, from it’s outdoor pool to enjoy the sun, lobby lounge where you can sip down on delicious cocktails, the famous Dim Sum at Man Fu Yuan or the live cookings stations at Ash & Elm. The Intercontinental Singapore has it all.
